Atelier Concert – 10/3/10

Art & Music Support Network presents

Tamir Hendelman: Solo Piano

Sunday October 3, 1-4 PM

We have the singular pleasure and honor of presenting, again, a man we love as a person and as an artist: Tamir Hendelman.

He’s worked recently with Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, Jeff Hamilton, Graham Dechter, and Patrick Williams.

Tamir’s latest, just-released CD, Destinations has rocketed up the jazz charts and is officially the #1 jazz record in the country this week. His debut album, Playground, did the same thing, stopping at #3, about a year ago.

Seeing him solo is like sitting at the feet of great pianists from the past 100 years and getting a little treasure from each of them. He is a tremendous channel for the power of music.

Seating is limited, please act quickly when you get these invitations; tickets will sell out.

As always, a piece of sculpture from Tanya Ragir Studios will be raffled to benefit Upward Bound House: this time there will be nine lucky winners!

Remember, even if you are unable to attend the concert, you may still purchase raffle tickets to support Upward Bound House.

Please come join us for wonderful food, adult beverages, companionship, and incomparable music.

Please go to www.artandmusicsupportnetwork.org to find out more and reserve your ticket.

We look forward to seeing you here.

Lee National Denim Day

October 8, 2010

Since its inception in 1996, Lee National Denim Day has adhered to a simple philosophy: one day, one cause, one cure®. In 14 years, that philosophy has become a mantra for millions and has made an impact Lee Jeans never dreamed possible.

It all started when several Lee Jeans employees realized that each of them, in one form or another, had been touched by breast cancer. An everyday conversation sparked an idea and led to the creation of Lee National Denim Day, which has become one of the largest single-day fundraisers nationwide for breast cancer.

In its first year, Lee Jeans set a goal of raising $1 million on Lee National Denim Day. To do this, Lee Jeans invited companies to go casual for a cause, inviting employees to wear their jeans to work on Denim Day in exchange for a $5 contribution to the fight against breast cancer. The underlying concept behind the program was simple – by convincing enough people to take one small step, together they could reach an incredible goal.

The response to the inaugural Lee National Denim Day program was astounding. That year, more than 3,000 companies signed up to participate, raising $1.4 million dollars for the fight against breast cancer, setting the stage for what would become one of the most captivating social action campaigns in the country.

Since its first year, Lee National Denim Day has raised nearly $80 million for the fight against breast cancer and unites nearly one million supporters nationwide each year.

JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST
WOMEN’S CANCERS
May 8, 2010

Please join us at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, May 8th, for the Entertainment Industry Foundation Revlon Run/Walk for Women.

You can participate as either a runner or a walker. Simply register in this year’s event and be a part of helping to defeat women’s cancers. Help raise funds for the Run/Walk beneficiaries so they can continue with life saving research and provide valuable services to the women in our lives – our mothers, sisters, aunts and daughters.

We’ve got the Womentum. Cancer doesn’t stand a chance.

With one in three women predicted to develop cancer in her lifetime, everyone has felt the effect of women’s cancers. Now it’s time for women’s cancers to feel the effect of us – our determination, our strength, our optimism, our refusal to surrender. In a word, a word that the EIF REVLON Run/Walk For Women embodies uniquely every year … our Womentum.

Just one day before Mother’s Day, the morning of Saturday, May 8th will be like no other. Buoyed by the knowledge of the difference you are making and exhilarated by the energy of the Run/Walk crowd, you will discover the part of yourself that lets you be a part of something bigger than yourself … your Womentum.

You don’t have to be a woman or an athlete – you just have to care about winning the fight against women’s cancers!

When you register, be sure to do it under “Team 1155: Womens Professional Group”.  Click HERE to register online now and we’ll see you there!

Mission Statement

The Women’s Professional Network (WPN) was formed by Adrian Grant, an established Los Angeles Realtor and philanthropist, to build a network and community of successful and like-minded dynamic women. Together with co-chairs, Gloria Shulman and Lynda Levy, WPN has grown from a small gathering to a vibrant dedicated group of women from professions including medical, mental health, art, finance, and law.

The mission for WPN is to foster, enlighten, and educate women who want to expand their professional services as well as charitable services by offering their time and financial assistance to the larger community. One of the goals of WPN is to expand the support and growth of women through chapters around the country and world because we believe in being mindful of our role(s) in society and the many contributions we make. Madeleine Albright said it best - "There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."

WPN meets on the first Monday of each month at a private home providing dinner and a topical presentation. Feel free to browse our website for WPN meeting information and calendar of exciting events.
